There are legitimate ways to make money online. The problem is that the real ways to make money aren’t “get rich quick” schemes.

Most of them require a lot of work and sometimes a lot of dedication before seeing a return on your time. But if you really want to make money online, work from home or turn an idea into a business, you can do it. You can even earn money with apps if you don’t want to venture all the way to the computer.

I’m going to tell you about all kinds of legitimate ways to make money online. Since we are talking about legitimate jobs, you’ve got to be…well, legitimate. Many of these options are real jobs that require you to put in hours if you want to get paid. They also require real work. Here are some tips for actually getting the job:

Make Money With Testing Websites:

Many big companies are looking for feedback about the usability of their website.

This is where Usertesting.com comes in. You sign up for free and then answer questions about a particular website, explaining what is good or bad, confusing or clear, etc. and then you get paid.

You have to be accepted into the program and must be 18+, but the payouts are pretty good! Their current payouts are $10-$15 per test and the tests normally take about 20 minutes.

I found the video below from a tester explaining how it works.

Here is The List of Websites Which Pays you Testing Websites:

Feedback Army

Make money answering questions about various websites. Tests consist of 10 questions. If you’d like to work for Feedback Army, you’ll need to sign up through Amazon Mechanical Turk. After you complete your task through Amazon Mechanical Turk, the requester will approve your work, and your money will be deposited into your Amazon Payment account.

StartUpLift

Earn money by answering questions about startup websites. Each company provides their website and assigns tasks that they would like you to complete and provide answers for. After you complete the assignment you’ll share your thoughts in a written response. Each completed test pays $5.00 and payments are made weekly via PayPal.

TryMyUI

Earn $10 for 15 – 20 minutes of your time. To become part of the TryMyUI team first sign up for an account. Next you’ll need to take and pass a qualification test. The qualification test is a sample test that shows you understand the process and requirements. After you qualify you’ll be sent test opportunities via email. Payments are made biweekly via PayPal.

Userfeel

Get paid $10 for providing your thoughts on various websites. To become a website tester, register for an account, and take a sample test. Once your sample is approved, you’ll start getting assignments by email. Payments are made via PayPal at the end of each week.

Earn Money With Bookscouter To Sell Books From Online

You can make money online many different ways if you like to surf the Web. One of these ways includes usability testing, or reviewing websites and mobile apps.

What exactly is usability testing?

In a nutshell, usability testing is the user-based reviewing of websites, videos, advertisements, static images, interfaces, prototypes and mobile apps. Users such as yourself open up a website or app and are asked to register online, go shopping for a product or service, conduct a search, compare/contrast a site with that of a competitor, answer questions about site use/feel, etc.

Ok here is a simple business idea for you.

Start by downloading the BookScouter app on your phone or going to BookScouter.com.

Go visit garage sales or thrift shops and scan the used book sections to find books that you can sell for higher prices.

Many thrift stores sell all their books for 50 cents or less and some of those books are worth a whole lot more.

As you can see in the image to the right, you just scan the barcode with your phone (or enter the ISBN #) and then the app provides the prices that a bunch of book buyback sites are willing to pay for that particular book.

In this case, we can make $3.60 selling this Dave Ramsey book. If I can buy it for 50 cents, then that sounds like a nice profit.

Most of the sites offer free shipping as well, so you don’t even have to pay shipping.

Earn Money With Online Surveys

I am not particularly fond of the whole online survey thing since I had a bad experience using CashCrate.

But there are lots of online survey sites and people who do it successfully. Here are a few if you want to investigate it further:

TryMyUI

You apply to this site by sending in a mock review (with video) of an example website. Once you are accepted, the site sends you usability tests about twice per week based on your demographics. If you successfully complete the usability tests and they are accepted by TryMyUI, you are paid $10 via Paypal. In general, these tests take about 10-15 minutes to complete, so at least in theory, you could be earning $40/hour. Or, just about enough money to go out for a pizza at the end of the week.

Userfeel

This site requires you to download its software and use it while reviewing a mock website as part of your application. Once you are approved, you can earn $10 for each successfully completed website or app review. You will need a microphone as well as a reasonably fast computer to perform user tests; a good example of what exactly you’ll be doing is provided on this Userfeel example video.

Currently, the issue with Userfeel is that the site is booked and so is accepting no new testers. A few weeks back, this site was open to new testers. I’d recommend checking back every other week or so to find out if a vacancy exists.

Userlytics

This usability testing site does not require its applicants to submit an application; you simply register on the site and wait for your invitation (which for me, happened in the space of five seconds). Once you log in, you can view any open tests that you qualify for as well as your completed tests (and their respective status). Userlytics requires that you be equipped with a webcam and microphone as well as a decent operating system (Windows 7/XP/Vista or MacOS Leopard 10.6 or newer) before you can participate in its tests.

Global Test Market

I recommend proceeding with caution and definitely not paying anything to join.
Build Websites And Earn Money:
I can’t tell you how many people have asked me to build them a website since I started this one a couple years ago. I am not seeking the work and people are requesting it, so if you do a little legwork and pursue small business owners, there is a lot of work available. Teens might be great for this, because they would be able to work for less than some higher end website developers, which would put them in the price range that it seems many small businesses are looking to spend. Here is a great course to help you get started.

Get Paid $35/Hr With Lyft.com

Not sure if you’ve heard, but Lyft is an app that basically eliminates the need to ever call a taxi. Instead of calling a cab, you just click “request driver” and then a Lyft driver gets a notification and comes and picks you up.

The service is way faster than calling a cab and is about half the price. I say all that to say that as a driver for Lyft, you use your own car, drive only when you want to, and (according to the website) get paid $35/hr to pick people up and drive them around. Not too shabby.

Since I have been a full-time blogger for many years now, I wrote extensively about how to make money from a blog for those who are interested in this type of thing.
